Urgent warning issued at popular beach

An urgent warning has been issued against bathing at a popular beach destination in Cornwall.

Praa Sands West has been affected by pollution from sewage in the area.

The warning was issued yesterday, April 9, at 11.10am.

The Environment Agency said: “Bathing is not advised, due to pollution from sewage.

“Incident started on April 9th 2026 11:10

“Affected bathing water is at Praa Sands West

“To contact the Environment Agency about this incident, please email enquiries@environment-agency.gov.uk quoting NIRS reference 02490969.”

The cause of the pollution is not yet known. The water quality there is normally classified as ‘excellent’.
