Ambulance service vehicle and lorry involved in crash on major Welsh road

The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed one of its vehicles was involved in a collision on Thursday afternoon

A non-emergency Welsh Ambulance Service vehicle was involved in a crash with a lorry on a busy road in Cardiff. Emergency services were called to a crash involving a patient transport service vehicle and a lorry on the A48 Eastern Avenue, near Pentwyn, on Thursday afternoon.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said the crash happened at around 1.20pm. No patients were on board at the time of the incident, a spokesperson added.

Two crew members and the driver of the lorry were assessed at the scene. South Wales Police said no injuries were reported.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “At approximately 1.20pm today, one of our Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service vehicles was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A48 Eastern Avenue, near Pentwyn.

“No patients were on board the vehicle at the time of the collision and both crew members were assessed at the scene.

“The driver of the lorry was also assessed and did not require treatment.

“An operations manager in a rapid response vehicle attended the scene to provide support.”
