Police say an ‘accelerant’ was poured through a letterbox and set alight

Detectives are investigating a suspected arson attack on a house in Bury. It’s thought an ‘accelerant’ was poured through a letterbox of a home on Great Hall Close, Radcliffe and set alight in what’s been described as a ‘targeted attack’.

No one was injured in the blaze, which took place around 2am yesterday (Saturday). Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with mobile phone, dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.

Det Sgt Niamh McCarthy from Bury CID said: “We understand this incident may cause concern within the community, however, our assessment is that it was a targeted attack, and there is no risk to the wider public.

“Our enquiries to identify those responsible are ongoing, and we urge anyone with information that may assist our investigation to come forward.”
