East Lothian antiques expert Theo Burrell has married her long term partner in a ‘wonderful’ ceremony. Theo, 38, was diagnosed with a grade four brain tumour in June 2022.

She’s been with partner Alex for 13 years, and is known for hosting BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. Posting an update to Instagram, Theo said she was ‘still sleeping off the exhaustion’ but ‘it was worth every second’.

She shared an image from the wedding on social media, wearing a white dress, with the top half covered in pearls and sequins, and a traditional white veil, while Alex looked dapper in a blue suit with a black bow tie, reports Birmingham Live.

She captioned the photo: “On 28th March Alex and I celebrated our wedding with our closest family and friends and it was amazing!! Not only did we have a lot of fun but it feels so nice to be husband and wife after all these years together.

“With special thanks to @siobhanveneruzzo who took our photographs and picked all the most beautiful spots in Edinburgh for us to pose, @laura.studioh who did my make up and made me feel good despite the steroid weight gain and @cannonballrestaurant and @norloft for hosting our meal and drinks.

“I’m still sleeping off the exhaustion and a cold but it was worth every second! Next up I have a scan to get through… But we’ll deal with that when the time comes.”

The TV star, who has been with Alex for 13 years, was quickly flooded with congratulations from fans. One wrote: “Massive congratulations to you both. Looks like a beautiful wedding!”

“Congratulations Theo! What a wonderful picture,” a second said, while a third added: “Absolutely wonderful. Congratulations and love to you both.”

Theo has been candidly sharing her health journey as she continues to have chemotherapy. Just before Christmas, she was told her tumour had grown by 3cm and she would need a second operation, which she later revealed had damaged her eyesight.

She later shared her graphic surgery scar with fans to raise awareness.
