Several police vehicles and officers were on scene.
Locals in Leith have been left shocked after armed police swooped on a busy street on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were spotted at the scene on Leith Walk, in the Shrubhill area, at around 12.30pm on April 28. Several marked vehicles were seen lining the street as they surrounded a vehicle.
Video footage taken by a resident living opposite appears to show two armed officers targeting a black car stopped on the road, surrounded by two police cars.
Officers clad in black protective gear with rifles can be heard shouting commands as several other locals can be seen watching on from the pavement.
The traffic appears to be stopped, with a pedestrian walking on the pavement towards the scene ordered to stay back by an officer.
Eventually, the driver gets out of the car with their hands raised, and slowly walks towards the officers before being handcuffed.
The resident told Edinburgh Live: “We just heard shouting and immediately looked out of the window. We were shocked because we’d never seen armed police before and were anxious of what the situation was.”
The black car was later seen being loaded onto the back of a recovery vehicle at around 1.15pm.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
