Visitors have reported ’90-minute queues’ and ‘friction burns’ only weeks after the indoor park opened
Nottingham’s latest attraction Slick City has received mixed reviews. While a majority posted positive reviews, some say the indoor park feels unsafe and overcrowded, with reports of “90-minute queues” and “friction burns”.
The American chain of action parks opened its first European site in Lenton on March 12, but some negative reviews have already been posted to Google.
In response, Slick City said that while there had been some issues that have required improvement, the majority of the feedback from customers has been positive.
The complaints mainly focus on concerns over a perceived lack of safety at the new attraction, on Redfield Road, with one visitor claiming the equipment on rides appeared to already be in poor condition only weeks after opening.
However, the company claimed a safety net was in place and, after an incident was reported, staff immediately removed the activity from use.
Four reviewers also reported leaving with friction burns as a result of their skin rubbing against the park’s large slides with one adding: “My partner went down first and pretty much slipped off the mat as well as smacking his face on the side of the slide resulting in carpet burn-like scrape on face.”
Another concern raised in a number of the recent negative Google reviews was significantly long queues to rides, with some families claiming they paid for a two-hour pass, but spent 90 minutes of this in a single queue.
This seems to mainly be an issue for for the Air Glider ride, which is designed to replicate the feeling of flying.
“They seriously need to up staffing levels and speed on the zip line – one hour and 15 mins for a 30-second zip line ride is shocking. Kids were totally fed up and then having to wait that long. The place could be brilliant but this lets it totally down,” one visitor added.
Slick City says that, whilst queues for the Air Glider were longer than anticipated due to very high demand, this has now been resolved and the queues are now much shorter.
Despite this, the majority of visitors are citing positive experiences at the park, with most of the Google reviews being 5-stars. One customer wrote that “after reading lots of negative reviews, I was very sceptical about visiting but I am so glad we did”.
Another added: “What a great park, think us adults had more fun than the kids”.
The new attraction is made up of 16 slides, all aimed at visitors of different ages and abilities. Slick City’s minimum age is four and there is no upper age limit.
At the time of writing, there were 167 Google reviews, with 21 of them being one-star – 12 per cent – and 105 being five star – 63 per cent.
A spokesperson for Slick City said: “We have been genuinely overwhelmed and delighted by the hugely positive response we have received since opening Slick City just over three weeks ago.
“During that time, we have experienced phenomenal levels of demand, with the majority of sessions fully booked on peak days and weekends.
“The valuable feedback we have received from our guests forms an important part of any new launch, and our team has been working tirelessly to ensure we take this on board so that we can offer the best possible experience for everyone who comes to Slick City.”
