Police said the arrest was ‘carried out with incredible skill and precision’ by armed officers

Armed officers have arrested and charged a Loughton man with a string of drug-related and weapons offences. An investigation into the supply of Class A drugs in Essex has led to the 22-year-old’s arrest.

On Wednesday, April 29, armed officers arrested Rocco Coakley, of Clays Lane, while driving in Alderton Hill, Loughton. Police searches were conducted in the vehicle Coakley was travelling in and at his home address.

A handgun, ammunition, four blades, significant quantities of Class A drugs, cash, and a number of electronic devices were seized. Rocco Coakley, 22, of Clays Lane, Loughton, has been charged with possession of a firearm and a bladed article, possession of ammunition, being concerned in the supply of cocaine and ketamine, and possession of criminal property.

He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 30 and will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on May 25. Three other people who were also arrested have been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues.

Detective Inspector Chris Rose, who’s leading the investigation, said: “This is a significant step in this investigation.

“The arrest made on Wednesday was carried out with incredible skill and precision by our armed officers and allowed our immediate searches to be carried out safely and unimpeded.

“The supply of drugs in Essex will not be tolerated and there are teams across the force which work determinedly to tackle those who we believe to be involved.”
