A probe was launched by police
Three youths have been charged in connection with deliberate fires across Fife. A probe was launched by police after blazes started within hours of each other on April 22.
Footage showed smoke pouring from the Jaff Barber Shop in Methil at around 6.35pm on Wednesday. Emergency services were dispatched to a second fire in Methil, before a third broke out near Buckhaven.
Police Scotland confirmed they were treating all three blazes as wilful fire-raising incidents, with enquiries ongoing to establish whether they are linked. The force has now confirmed that three youths have been charged in connection with the fires, reports the Daily Record.
Two of the youths have also been charged in connection with a fire on Lady Wynd which happened on Thursday, April 23. No injuries were reported from any of the fires. All three youths will be reported to the relevant authorities.
The first fire was reported at around 6.35pm on Wellesley Road in Methil, followed by a second at around 8.50pm on Sea Road, also in Methil. A third incident was then reported shortly after 9pm near Sun Road in Buckhaven.
Fire crews found multiple areas of grass and gorse alight over an area of around 150 square metres near Sun Road. Four appliances were sent to the scene and the fire was brought under control shortly after 10.20pm.
Photos shared on social media showed smoke and flames rising over the coastline. Other snaps showed an orange glow above houses in Buckhaven as the flames continued into the night.
