A 19-year-old man has been stabbed to death in a seaside town.

A 19-year-old man has been stabbed to death in a seaside town.

Kent Police have launched a murder investigation after being called to reports of a serious assault in Whitstable on the north Kent coast.

The man died at the scene on Belmont Road near the town’s cricket and football clubs.

Police and the ambulance service were called at about 2am on Good Friday.

The town’s MP, Rosie Duffield, said: “This is extremely shocking and upsetting. I know the area well and incidents like this are incredibly rare in our community.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Kent Police.”

District councillor for Gorrell ward Clare Turnbull said: “This a tragic loss of a young life and my heart goes out to the family and friends of the victim.

“I urge anyone with information to contact the police as soon as possible.”
