Pizza Boyz Becomes First Trader at HYS Food Hall in Cardiff
Pizza Boyz, a family-run pizza business based in South Wales, has been announced as the first trader to join the new HYS Food Hall, set to open in late 2026 in Cardiff city centre.
The venue will be located in the historic High Street Arcade, a significant part of Cardiff’s retail landscape since the 1880s. HYS Food Hall aims to become a vibrant destination for food and drink, featuring 14 independent kitchens and three bars spread across two floors, accommodating around 650 guests.
Loft Co, known for successful projects including Goodsheds in Barry and Newport Market, is behind the development of this new foodie destination. Managing director Simon Baston expressed pride in bringing what will be Cardiff’s largest food hall to such an iconic location, highlighting Cardiff’s rapid growth as a key UK city.
Pizza Boyz is noted for its authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas, with handmade dough and innovative flavours. Twins Delano and Ali Tortorella, who operate the business, have established a loyal customer base since their beginnings in a horsebox before moving to a restaurant and takeaway on Walter Road, Uplands, Swansea. Their family roots trace back to Italy, where they cultivate a traditional approach to pizza-making, using fresh ingredients and dedicated techniques.
The Tortorella family also aims to honour their mother’s memory through their business, stating that part of their annual profits are donated to cancer research charities.
HYS Food Hall is keen to unveil more traders in the weeks leading up to its opening, promising additional updates on social media regarding the independent businesses that will feature alongside Pizza Boyz.
