‘This is not an appropriate place to have your dog whilst driving’
Police could be forgiven for doing a double-take when the spotted this particular image from their AI spy cameras – as it appeared to show a dog driving a car.
A driver in Cornwall was captured with the pet sitting on their lap while travelling on a main A-road in Cornwall.
Devon and Cornwall Police ’s Road Safety Team captured a motorist driving on the A39 at Penryn.
The picture caught by an Acusensus AI camera shows a medium-sized dog sitting on a driver’s lap – and looking as if it is at the wheel.
Vision Zero South West, which is in partnership with the police force, has urged motorists to take care when driving by having “proper control” and a clear view of the road when driving.
A spokesperson for Vision Zero South West said: “The image was captured on the Acusensus AI camera currently situated on the A39 at Penryn, Cornwall.
“The Road Traffic Act requires drivers to always be in ‘proper control’ of the vehicle and have a clear view of the road ahead.”
The Road Safety team added: “I’m sure there will be plenty of dog lovers reading this. However, this is not an appropriate place to have your dog whilst driving.”
