There’s plenty of “eggcellent” days out for the little ones to enjoy around the county

Spring is in full swing and Easter is now just around the corner, bringing a lovely long weekend for many of us to enjoy with the family.

In between the chocolate scoffing and Sunday lunches, there is plenty of time to get out and about, exploring all the eggcellent events taking place across Kent to celebrate the holiday.

From egg hunts and fantasy festivals, to adorable petting zoos and countryside walks, there is lots on offer for all to enjoy. If you’re stumped for ways to keep the kids entertained over the bank holiday, worry not, as KentLive has hopped in to lend a hand.

Below you can find details on some of the biggest and best events taking place around the county between Good Friday (April 3) and Easter Monday (April 6). We’ve also included some general days out that are perfectly suited for the long weekend.

Take on the Great Ocean Egg-sploration at Chatham Dockyard

Where: Historic Chatham Dockyard, Main Gate Road, Chatham ME4 4TZ

When: March 28 to April 19

Families are invited to take on an exciting Easter trail at Chatham’s Historic Dockyard, featuring colourful characters, fun missions and prizes. The little ones will meet Horatio the Sea Hare, the Easter Bunny of the sea, who needs help finding ocean eggs that have been scattered around the iconic dockyard.

As kids and parents explore, they will find eggs belonging to different sea creatures which hold fascinating facts. Find all the eggs and return to the nesting ground to complete the rescue mission and receive a chocolate prize.

The Great Ocean Egg-sploration is included with general Chatham Dockyard admission. Tickets grant an entire year of access and cost £29 online or £32.50 on the door for adults, and £18.50 online and £20.50 on the door for children. Find the full booking details here.

Spring into Easter at Kent Life

Kent Life is promising an unforgettable Easter this spring with plenty on offer for families to enjoy. The little ones can meet adorable animals at the petting zoo, enjoy a fun farm ride, watch cute lambs be fed and use their imaginations at the craft station or paint a pot activity.

There will be a variety of live entertainment too, including Eggstremely Good Washboard Tunes, Eggcercise with Leanne, a magic show, and the hilarious antics of the Silly Farmers. If that’s not enough, there will be an owl flying demonstration, a special Easter party and Farmer George’s Easter Trail complete with chocolate treats.

To make it a real weekend to remember, parents can book breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5, which costs £18 for children between the ages of 2 and 15, and £14 for adults. Find the full details here.

Embark on the Great Dragon Egg Hunt at Hever Castle

Where: Hever Castle, Hever Road, Hever, Edenbridge TN8 7NG

Young adventurers can take on a magical quest at Hever Castle this Easter complete with dragons, fantastical encounters, prizes and craft activities. Children and their families will embark on a mission to find dragon eggs hidden across the historic estate.

They will follow an enchanting trail, learn fascinating dragon-themed facts and collect letters along the way to solve a secret word puzzle. Once complete, they can head to the information kiosk to reveal the answer and collect a prize.

There is even a chance for kids to meet a dragon while at the castle. Access to the Great Dragon Egg Hunt is included with admission to Hever Castle, with a Castle and Gardens Day Visit Ticket costing £25.50 for adults (ages 18 to 59), £22.60 for seniors and students and £14.05 for children (ages 5 to 17), while children aged 4 and under go free. Get wild at a Kent zoo

Kent has some exceptional wildlife parks to take the kids this Easter and see all the amazing animals, from towering giraffes and trumpeting elephants, to adorable lemurs and scaly reptiles. Children can go wild for £10 at Howletts Wild Animal Park just outside of Canterbury from March 28 to April 19 2026 (online offer), giving families the chance to see more than 390 exotic creatures, including the UK’s largest herd of elephants.

Child tickets at Port Lympne near Hythe are 50 per cent off over the Easter break too, costing £14.50 to explore 600 acres of open space, spot some beautiful wildlife of all shapes and sizes, plus enjoy some seasonal activities like the Easter Safari Bingo. Meanwhile Wingham Wildlife Park, between Canterbury and Sandwich, is offering some its own Easter fun, including bee hotel and butterfly feeder building as well as face painting and other games.

Over the Easter weekend itself, from April 3 to April 6, you can take part in penguin pebble painting. Plus there is the Wildwood Trust near Canterbury and the charming Fenn Bell Zoo in Medway which each offer unique family days out over the bank holiday packed full of fascinating animals and fun seasonal activities.

There is lots on offer for families to enjoy around the Medway towns this Easter. Little ones can get caught up in the magic of the Gonks Garden Trail at Eastgate House in Rochester between April 3 and May 31, or search for baby mythical animals at Rochester Castle from April 5 to April 18.

There are even golden eggs to be uncovered at the Guildhall Museum between April 3 and April 18. Over at Fort Amherst in Chatham, the magical Fantasy Festival will bring the historic landmark to life with fairies, goblins, Star Wars icons, Pirates of the Caribbean, Doctor Who characters, fantasy creatures, dragons and more on April 5 and April 6.

Listen to an Easter story in Canterbury

Where: St Augustine’s Abbey, Longport, Canterbury CT1 1PF

When: Monday, April 6

One of Kent’s most historic landmarks will host a special story time this Easter Monday. At 11am, head to St Augustine’s Abbey in Canterbury for a wonderful reading of ‘The Easter Bear’ by Michelle Keyes and Stella Maris.

This free storytelling session is perfect for young imaginations, suitable for ages 2+. Canterbury Cathedral will also host exhibitions, special tours, trails, services, and workshops for all to enjoy this spring, so be sure to stop by this iconic World Heritage Site. Find out more here.

Get your steps in with an Easter hike around Kent

One of the best aspects of living in the Garden of England is the abundance of amazing walking routes we have right on our doorstep. You can take on a trail from Reculver Towers to Herne Bay, meander around the stunning Otford circular walk which loops around a charming village, embark on a seaside stroll with a fascinating literary connection or enjoy a relaxed wander around the lakes at a beautiful nature reserve with a newly refurbished visitor centre.

Folkestone Harbour Easter Egg Hunt

Where: Harbour Approach Road, Folkestone CT20 1QH

When: Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6

The Folkestone Harbour Arm Easter activity will run from Good Friday to Easter Monday. Visitors can take part in a letter hunt across the site, collecting letters to spell out a word and enter the competition.
