Inside Greater Manchester’s priciest home you can't see on Google Street View

Date:

The lavish property is still looking for an owner after more than two years on the market

Across Greater Manchester there are currently 11,800 properties listed for sale on Zoopla, but this grand home is by far the most expensive. With a huge £8,500,000 price tag, it’s the costliest pad you can buy in the region – and it’s yet to find an owner.

The lavish property in Hale, boasting seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, was put on the market for £8,995,000 back in October 2023. It then had its price slashed by £495,000 in February 2025, according to Rightmove.

The dream home sits on Broadway, a private and exclusive ‘no through’ road that is so discreet it can’t be viewed on Google Street View. The tree-lined street is often named amongst the most expensive roads to live on in the region, with its run of mega mansions costing an average of £3,025,000 as of 2025.

It is therefore no surprise that Greater Manchester’s highest-priced house is found here. The stunning detached house has been picked as our latest Property of the Week.

Each week, our Property Writer at the Manchester Evening News chooses a different home that’s up for sale in Greater Manchester, whether than be for its sprawling size, stylish interior, sought-after location or dream amenities.

With its Arts and Crafts style exterior, gigantic rooms, gorgeous landscaped garden and high-tech security and sustainability features, estate agents Gascoigne Halman in Hale describe it as a ‘truly exquisite residence’.

“Its footprint, form, scale, and appearance have all been carefully considered to create a building which sits in harmony with its surroundings,” the estate agents listing reads. “With an abundance of high-quality materials throughout including natural slate roofing, hardwood framing, brick walls and natural stone detailing.

“The results are of a timeless quality blending with, and complementing the surrounding properties. Although a brand new build completed in 2023 and offering in excess of 11,000 square foot, the overall impression is of a house of character and architectural interest with a scale and massing that is proportional to the neighbouring properties and surrounding area.”

Accessed through electric double gates, you enter into a secure courtyard with enough parking space for ample cars. Heading inside the home, there is a front porch which serves as the gateway into the light and airy double-height entrance hallway, which leads to an array of living spaces.

The ground floor is where the main family areas are, including the large open-plan kitchen, family dining room and sitting areas, each with great views and access out onto the secluded southernly garden areas. There is also a formal dining room, study and a games room off of the spacious hallway.

Heading up the bespoke stone staircase to the first floor, there are four bedrooms, including the luxury master bedroom, each which come with their own dressing rooms and en-suites. There is also a spacious gym area on this floor.

The second floor is accessed from a separate staircase with a stunning hexagonal roof lantern. From this area, there are three further bedrooms, two with sitting rooms, which would make an ideal guest suite or accommodation for a live-in housekeeper.

Back on the ground floor there is also a large garage space which links to the main house, featuring a secondary kitchen, utility and laundry area, with a secondary staircase leading to the first floor. Although currently unfurnished, the interior of the property is contemporary with high quality fixtures and fittings.

Gascoigne Halman continues: “The large scale of the house is entirely in keeping with the site and surrounding area with the pitch of the roof being one of the most distinctive features of this architectural style. Its scale is also appropriate to the size of the plot on which it sits being 0.7 of an acre.

“The residence is nestled amidst expansive landscaped gardens, bordered by mature hedgerows and trees which shield the property, especially from Broadway and its neighbouring southern boundary. Some of these trees reach impressive heights, enhancing the charm and character of the mature, green backdrop.”

The estate agent adds: “Broadway itself is a lush suburban street adorned with fully grown trees lining the road and surrounding the properties. These houses, typically spacious and detached, are set back from the road within generous gardens.”

“Hale is a vibrant village renowned for its specialist shops, services and restaurants which are within a reasonable walking distance of the property. Hale railway station offers links with Knutsford, and further afield to Chester. Hale and its surrounding towns and villages are particularly favoured, having good commuter links into Manchester City Centre and Salford Quays via the Metrolink facility at Altrincham station.”
