A1 slip roads closed due to 'emergency barrier repairs'

Date:

National Highways reported a collision in the early hours of this morning

Two slips roads on the A1 are closed due to “emergency barrier repairs”. The entry and exit slip roads on the A1(M) northbound at the junction 64 A195 Western Highway, for Washington, have been closed since late last night due to the works.

National Highways reported a road traffic collision in the early hours of Monday morning. However, the North East Ambulance Service has confirmed that its services were not called to the area at any point in the last 24 hours.

There are closures planned later in the year for works to improve junctions 60 – 64 on the motorway, with the intention of improving drainage, resurfacing carriageways and hard shoulders, and replacing the vehicle restraint system.
