Police have released an image of a man they think could assist their enquiries

Police are tracing a man after another man was punched in the back of the head in a ‘nasty assault’ in Nottingham city centre.

The victim, in his 20s, was taken to hospital after falling to the ground and suffering injuries to his face during the attack in Victoria Street.

Nottinghamshire Police have now issued a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the incident, which happened at around 11.10pm on Saturday, February 21.

Sergeant Graham Collington said: “This was a nasty assault and it was pure luck the victim’s injuries were not more serious.

“That said, the assault had a profound impact on him and his friend who was walking alongside him at the time of the incident.

“We are determined to bring the perpetrator to justice. CCTV enquiries have been carried out, statements taken, and intelligence checks conducted, and we are now issuing an image of a man we would like to speak to as we believe he could hold information which could assist our enquiries.

“If you recognise the man, please call 101 quoting 26*104763. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
