An Edinburgh patient has been rushed to hospital after an incident on a major road on Monday evening. Around 6.20pm on April 27, police and paramedics raced to Calder Road.

The exact nature of the incident has not been confirmed but one eye witness claims a pedestrian was struck by a car. Several police cars and paramedics were pictured at the scene.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has since confirmed a critical care paramedic was dispatched to the incident and one patient was transported to hospital.

Pictures taken from the scene show concerned onlookers standing at the side of the road.

One passer-by said: “Something has happened on Calder Road westbound. It looks like someone has been run over.”

A SAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 18.20 on 27 April to attend an incident on Calder Road, Edinburgh.

“An ambulance and critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene, and one patient was transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.”

Police Scotland have been approached for further comment.
