A frantic search is underway to trace a missing Scots schoolboy with autism who has vanished overnight.
Haroon Ali, 16, was last seen in-person by family in Glasgow’s Blochairn Place at 3.15pm on Friday, April 10. He was then seen on CCTV heading towards the city’s Roystonhill at around 4.10pm.
The teenager has not been seen or heard from since. Haroon is described as Asian, has brown skin, is 6ft tall, has black hair, a black beard and acne on his face.
At the time, he was wearing a grey Nike tracksuit with white patches on the knees.
Inspector Jayne Crocket, Maryhill Police Station, said: “Haroon has autism and is always usually accompanied by family if he goes out. However, on this occasion he has left home unknown to family and appears to have made his way towards Roystonhill where he is seen on CCTV around 4.10pm.
“His family searched for him for a few hours hoping they’d find him nearby or he’d return home himself, but when that didn’t happen, they called police around 11.45pm. It will be quite evident to anyone who sees Haroon that he has autism as by now his family believe he will be very distressed. He has never been missing before and is not familiar with anywhere other than around his family home. He does not have money or a bus pass with him.
“Officers are making local inquiries, and we have been in contact with bus and taxi companies to keep an eye out for him. We’d ask people, especially in the north of the city in Blochairn and Roystonhill, to look out for him, maybe check your garden or shed in case he has taken shelter there.
“If you see him, please contract police as soon as you can via 101. Quote incident number 3847 of Friday, 10 April 2026 when calling.”
