Police have said that three teenagers have been left injured after being shot at by an air weapon.
Three teenagers were injured after being shot at by a man carrying an air gun. The teenagers, one girl aged 14 and two boys aged 14 and 15, were in the woodland behind Graham Bell Close in the Malpas area of Newport when they were approached by a group of three men, police said.
One of the men is believed to have been carrying an air gun. It is understood that all three teenagers were all shot by an air gun, and the 14-year-old boy was physically assaulted.
Officers from Gwent Police were called to the scene at around 7pm on Friday. They confirmed that the 14-year-old boy needed hospital treatment, and all had suffered injuries “consistent with being struck by air pellets.” Never miss a Newport story by subscribing to our newsletter here
The force is now appealing for any witnesses to come forward as their enquiries into the incident continue.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “We received a report regarding the assault of three teenagers in Newport at around 6.45pm on Friday 10 April.
“A group of three men – one of whom was believed to be carrying an air weapon – reportedly approached the teenagers, one girl aged 14 and two boys aged 14 and 15, woodland behind Graham Bell Close.
“The 14-year-old boy later attended hospital for treatment for injuries consistent with a physical assault; all three teenagers had minor injuries consistent with being struck by air pellets.
