Woman rushed to hospital after horror smash on major Glasgow road

A woman has been rushed to hospital following a crash in Glasgow this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Great Western Road, at the junction with Lincoln Avenue, after the alarm was raised shortly before 2pm on Saturday, April 11.

Officers from Police Scotland were responding to reports of a two-vehicle crash. Ambulance crews attended and a woman was taken to hospital. Her condition is currently unknown.

An image shared with the Record shows a significant number of police officers and fire crews at the scene.

Unconfirmed reports suggested emergency crews were working to cut a passenger out of the back seat of a taxi following the collision.

An eyewitness said: “Avoid Great Western Road at the Lincoln Avenue junction. Horrendous smash affecting both sides of the road. They’re trying to cut a passenger out the back seat of a taxi by the looks of it. Hope everyone involved is okay.”

The road has since reopened and recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.

A man was issued a fixed penalty notice in connection with a road traffic offence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.55pm on Saturday, 11 April, 2026, we were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Lincoln Avenue, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and a woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The road has since reopened and recovery of the vehicles has been arranged. A man was issued a fixed penalty notice in connection with a road traffic offence.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two engines were at the scene to assist.
