Jet2 passengers flying to the Portuguese destination have been warned by the airline.
Jet2 has warned passengers of potential disruption to flights to and from the island of Madeira amid ‘adverse weather’. The island has been experiencing heavy rain in recent days.
IPMA, Portugal’s national weather agency, also issued a yellow warning for wind for the island for Saturday morning. Funchal Airport has announced that the weather is impacting flight schedules, the Manchester Evening News reports.
In a statement on its website, the airport said: “Weather forecasts indicate adverse conditions that may affect operations (departures and arrivals) in the coming days. Contact your airline to confirm the status of your flight before heading to the airport”.
Jet2 has also warned passengers of potential disruption to flights. In a statement it said: “We are aware of adverse weather conditions currently affecting Madeira (Funchal). Our UK Based Operations Team are working hard to minimise any disruption to flight to and from Madeira (Funchal).”
Passengers are urged to enter their flight details on the Jet2 website to see if their flight has been delayed. The airline has also said it has communicated with passengers currently in Madeira whose flights have been delayed.
It added: “Safety is our number one priority and we’re sorry if you’re affected by any flight disruption during this period. We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.”
