A motorcyclist has been left fighting for his life after crashing into a Ford Fiesta turning onto the A63.
The crash was reported on Sunday afternoon (April 19) after the driver of a dark-coloured Yamaha Tracer motorcycle collided with a red Ford Fiesta as it turned right onto the A63. The driver of the motorcycle – a 65-year-old man from North Yorkshire – has been left with “very serious” injuries in hospital, while police look for CCTV and dashcam footage following the crash.
A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car in the Garforth area. The Roads Policing Unit would like to speak to anyone who saw or has footage of the collision on the A63 afternoon near Garforth Garden Centre on the afternoon of Sunday April 19.
“It occurred at about 2.15pm after a dark coloured Yamaha Tracer motorcycle, which was travelling on the A63 away from Garforth, was in collision with a red Ford Fiesta as it turned right onto the A63 from the garden centre. The motorbike had overtaken a Kia EV6 on the A63 just prior to the collision. The rider, a 65-year old North Yorkshire man, suffered very serious injuries in the collision and remains in hospital for treatment.”
Anyone who saw or has footage of the collision, or the dark coloured motorcycle as it road through Garforth is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or by going online. Those getting in touch should reference police log 897 of 19 April.
