In 2025 the popularity of the event caused huge delays in the Welsh village
A car boot sale so popular that it once caused two hour traffic delays has cancelled its weekly event after visitors acted in “aggressive and threatening and assaultive behaviour” towards volunteer staff. The Sully Sports Car Boot Sale attracts thousands of visitors and sellers each year in south Wales as one of the biggest of its kind in the area.
The car boot sale is held across the spring and summer from April to September each year. In 2025 the popularity of the event caused huge traffic delays in the Welsh village with people queuing in their cars for hours.
However, this weekend the scheduled event on Sunday, May 17 has been postponed until further notice due to “concerning behaviour” from visitors.
The event said it will be looking to step up staff security measures going forward as a result. For the biggest stories in Wales first sign up to our daily newsletter here
Writing on Facebook the Sully Sports Car Boot Sale said: “Please note this week coming car boot sale has been postponed until further notice due to concerning behaviour shown towards our steward volunteers on Sunday, May 10 2026.
“It has been formally brought to attention of committee members that several visitors have acted in aggressive and threatening and assaultive behaviour. Such conduct shall not be tolerated or accepted towards any members of our staff.
“As a result, there shall not be a car boot sale scheduled this coming Sunday, May 17 until further enquiries have been followed up and we look at the safety and security of our staff. We will also be looking to step up staff security measures going forward. It is disheartening that such persons who do this ruin it for others, but we take safety as paramount for anyone attending or working the boot sale.”
