Heartfelt tributes paid after mum, 36, dies from rare pregnancy-related cancer

Date:

“During the past 5 years Victoria has fought bravely and fiercely”

A mum-of-two has tragically died following a diagnosis of a rare pregnancy-related cancer, her family has confirmed.

Victoria Howarth, described as a ‘devoted’ mum and wife, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of pregnancy-related cancer affecting her uterus in January 2022. After the disease spread to her lungs and two cycles of chemotherapy proved unsuccessful, the 36-year-old was switched to immunotherapy treatment.

Thankfully, following 10 months of treatment, Victoria entered remission. Sadly, when the cancer reappeared in Victoria’s uterus in 2024, the mother-of-two underwent a complete hysterectomy, but the disease had tragically already spread to her liver, right lung and ureter.

Last year, Lancs Live reported that as a final resort, her loved ones were fundraising to cover the costs of immunotherapy treatment, hoping it would ‘save her life’. Despite their efforts, and the nearly £60,000 raised towards her care, it was announced that Victoria, from Preston, tragically died last week.

Her family said had fought ‘bravely and fiercely’ for five years as they paid tribute to her ’empathy and kindness’. In an update shared on the fundraising page on April 20, her loved ones wrote: “This morning at 09.40am, surrounded by her loved ones, our beautiful Victoria closed her eyes one last time and finally rested.

“During the past 5 years Victoria has fought bravely and fiercely for every extra second that she got to spend with her beloved Daughters Sienna Mae and Isla and the love of her life, her husband Paul. Her devotion to her family was a true testament to who she was as a Wife and a Mother.

“Victoria’s devotion was not limited to only her immediate family, Victoria was an incredible daughter, sister, auntie and friend. She naturally and effortlessly poured love into everyone and everything that she cared about.

“Her empathy, kindness, sharp wit and most of all her humour will leave a void that everyone who knew her will understand and miss. Trinity Hospice in Bispham provided incredible care for Victoria during her 2 weeks within their care, they treated her with complete care, genuine empathy and dignity throughout.

“Not only were the staff amazing with Victoria but also our family to ensure we were also cared for whilst with her, we will be forever grateful for their compassion. Whilst we now have to learn to navigate around her absence, how lucky we were to have shared her beautiful light.”

Expressing their gratitude to those who had rallied behind the family, they said: “Without your help and her bravery we most likely may have not made it to here and are grateful for every extra minute.”

They also confirmed that all donations received would go towards supporting Victoria’s husband and two daughters, with future fundraising efforts dedicated to Trinity Hospice in Bispham, where Victoria spent her final weeks.
