The wife of Hizar Hanif killed on a busy Birmingham Road by a speeding driver said “I don’t understand how one minute life was perfect, and then it wasn’t”
The devastated wife of a dad killed in a 90mph horror crash on one of Birmingham’s busiest streets has spoken of her heartbreak as his killer is jailed.
Hizar Hanif was a passenger in his own BMW which was struck in the back by Audi driver, Mohammed Ali, in Soho Road in Handsworth at 90mph in what is a 30mph zone on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
Ali had been seen dangerously overtaking cars moments before his Audi struck Mr Hanif’s BMW at around 8.20pm.

Mr Hanif a dad and businessman aged just 32 died instantly from multiple injuries.
He and his friend were preparing for his friend’s wedding the following week and were travelling to a friends house to collect suits when they were hit by Ali’s car.
Ali also struck another car seriously injuring its driver.
Mr Hanif’s friend suffered minor physical injuries in the crash but is still recovering from the devastating loss of his best friend today.
Ali was taken to hospital where he also verbally and physically assaulted a police officer.

He was arrested and later charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and assaulting a police officer.
At a court hearing last month the 27-year-old, of Robert Road, Birchfeld, pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court and on Friday (April 17) he was sentenced to seven years in prison and banned from driving for four years and six months on release.
A statement from Mr Hanif’s wife, Kiran Khanum, was read out in court.
She said: “That day my life changed forever. I lost my soulmate, my son lost his daddy, his parents lost a son and his brothers lost their big brother.
“I don’t understand how one minute life was perfect, and then it wasn’t. This should never have happened. I have no peace and I’m living on autopilot.
“My son didn’t have enough time with his daddy and that’s not ok. No child should have to experience grief so young. I am struggling to figure out how i live in a world without him beside me.
“Hizar was everything to our family. A loving husband, a devoted father, son, brother and the heart of our family. His loss is something we will carry with us for the rest of our lives.”
