Teenagers from Birmingham have been charged with a string of offences after an attempted bike theft in Solihill and ppolice pursuit back to the city
Police were alerted to a masked group on motorbikes trying to steal another one in a car park in Solihull last Friday (April 10).
The group – all wearing balaclavas – did manage to steal the motorbike and fled the scene.
In doing so, they rode dangerously in Solihull town centre.

West Midlands Police’s Roads Policing Unit officers investigated and enlisted the help of the National Police Air Service helicopter.
The motorbike riders were pursued from Solihull into Birmingham city centre.
A stolen motorbike was abandoned in the city and the group fled into shops nearby.

But Solihull investigators were on the case and identified the suspects.
And three 17-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons have been charged with a number of offences including assaulting police, damaging a police car and possession of cannabis.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Three teenagers have been charged after a police pursuit of stolen bikes through Solihull and Birmingham.
“We were called to reports a group on motorbikes were trying to steal another bike from a car park in Solihull at around 3.30pm last Friday (10 April).
The group – wearing balaclavas – weren’t successful and quickly left the scene, driving dangerously through Solihull town centre.
“Our Roads Policing Unit officers were immediately on the case and were joined by the police helicopter as they pursued the bikes from Solihull into Birmingham city centre.
“A stolen motorbike was abandoned there, and the group escaped into nearby shops.
“Solihull investigators quickly picked up enquiries and worked to establish who was suspected of being involved.
“Following those enquiries, three boys from Birmingham were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday (April 15).
“The three, all aged 17, are due at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday (April 16) charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
“The three have also been charged with various other offences including assaulting police, criminal damage to a police car, possession of cannabis, and breaching bail.
“We are working hard across the West Midlands to tackle all forms of vehicle crime and bring offenders to justice, as we understand the impact it has on people’s daily lives.”
