Somerset and Devon are among eight southern England areas that are set to benefit
The Easter weekend might be on the chilly side but Britons can expect a brief spell of much warmer weather in the coming days.
Weather maps from WXCharts indicate temperatures could soon hit 21C in parts of southern England while the remainder of the country will largely remain above 14C.
The projections suggest that by April 8, a surge of warm air will sweep across the south, delivering highs of approximately 20-21C to regions including West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset and Devon.
The balmy conditions are expected to offer a glimpse of early summer, with blue skies and extended sunshine anticipated throughout much of the area.
Sections of south-west Wales are also poised to benefit from milder weather, with temperatures climbing to around 19C. The majority of the remaining parts of England will experience marginally cooler, yet still agreeable and dry conditions, with highs typically ranging between 17C and 18C.
Moving northwards, Scotland will encounter more moderate temperatures, with most locations forecast to see highs between 13C and 16C. While still temperate for this time of year, conditions will feel considerably cooler in comparison to the south.
Nevertheless, the stable and warm period isn’t anticipated to persist for long, which comes as no surprise given April’s unpredictable weather patterns.
By April 10, weather charts reveal a substantial change as a band of rainfall advances from the Atlantic. This weather system is expected to bring extensive wet conditions throughout much of the UK, signalling a sharp return to more changeable weather.
In Scotland, the colder conditions arriving with the rainfall may even result in wintry weather in certain locations, with some areas facing the possibility of snow, particularly across elevated terrain.
The fleeting mild period is therefore anticipated to be fleeting, with weather experts advising people across Britain to enjoy the sunny spells before conditions become wetter and more unsettled as the week progresses.
Echoing WXCharts’ predictions, the Met Office’s extended weather outlook for April 8 – April 17 states: “Rather changeable conditions are expected through this period, as Atlantic frontal systems track eastwards across the UK, accompanied by some strong winds at times,” reports the Express.
“These will bring occasional spells of rain or showers, heaviest and most frequent in the west and northwest, with longer drier interludes likely in the south and sheltered eastern areas.
“While temperatures will be close to average for the period as a whole, there may be opportunities for some short-lived warm spells in the south and east.
“Conversely, occasional colder interludes in the northwest will bring the chance of some wintry showers, especially to hills, and overnight frost.”
