The new building will offer space for 30 children
An Essex primary school will expand to offer 30 more places for children, with a new classroom replacing a temporary building. Maldon Primary School will get the new building due to “a pressing need for additional school spaces.”
It will be a single-storey, pitched-roof classroom block, located on the former site of a temporary classroom. Plans show that alongside the new classroom, there will also be new toilets and storage areas. The building would also offer cooking and hand-washing areas as well as a lobby.
The school, which is run by the Kemnal Academies Trust, was rated as good in its last Ofsted inspection in 2023. At the time, it had 212 pupils.
The plans also state: “The new building will be constructed using traditional methods to recreate the teaching block, offering a high-quality facility for the school. Due to its position as an isolated structure with direct access from the school car park, the building will also be suitable for out-of-hours use by the wider community.”
