“We need that video…Chloe Watson’s family needs answers as to why she died”

Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle is appealing for footage of the incident

Leeds police are desperately hunting for the footage to “piece together” the final moments of teen Chloe Watson, who died after being stabbed in the street.

The plea comes following information from the police that suggests the attack on the teen, in the early hours of Saturday, March 28, was captured on camera – with a video of the “senseless and tragic” death now circulating on social media.

Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle is appealing for footage of the incident

The murder probe was launched after West Yorkshire Police were called to Kennerleigh Avenue in Austhorpe, Leeds, at 5.55am (March 28) following reports that 16-year-old Chloe Watson Dransfield had been found unconscious with stab wounds to the back.

Following her death Kayla Smith, 18, of Kennerleigh Avenue, Archie Rycroft, 19, of Middleton Park Road, were charged with murder alongside a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons. They all appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning (March 31) and were remanded into custody before their next hearing at the city’s Crown Court tomorrow (March 2).

Now, West Yorkshire Police are desperately hunting for the footage which allegedly captured Chloe’s stabbing. Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said: “This senseless, tragic death has caused unimaginable grief for Chloe’s family, friends, and across communities. Officers are still working to piece together everything that happened that night.

“Our inquiries suggest this murder might have been captured on a mobile phone and that a video is circulating around social media. My appeal is for anyone who knows of, has seen, or has that video. Please get in touch. We need that video…Chloe’s family needs answers as to why she died.”
