Edinburgh bypass collision triggers rush hour delays for A720 drivers

A collision on the Edinburgh bypass has triggered tailbacks for drivers. The incident saw emergency services called to the scene at around 4.25pm on Friday.

The eastbound lane at Straiton was blocked off after the collision. Traffic camera images show cars backed up on the A720 as emergency services attend.

The condition of those involved is not currently known. Traffic Scotland urged drivers to ‘prepare for delay’.

Posting to X, Traffic Scotland said: “NEW 16:25 A720 Straiton Junction. Lane 2 (of 2) blocked Eastbound due to a road traffic incident.

“Emergency services are on route. Traffic slowing on the approach this afternoon so do prepare for delay.”

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
