An Edinburgh restaurant that became a firm favourite with locals has made a sad announcement. Bundits, who opened up on Constitution Street in 2021 before moving to Edinburgh Street Food, will be shutting their doors for good on May 10.

The Asian street food spot was known for their ‘bold flavoured’ bao buns, with diners on Tripadvisor even branding it a ‘Michelin experience’. They launched during the pandemic, which one local resident said ‘made lockdown a little easier’, before moving locations and adding a second outlet at Fort Kinnaird.

However, the popular spot is ‘saying goodbye for now’. The reasons behind the closure were not made public, and owners seem to have left the door open for the future.

In a post captioned ‘goodbye’ on Instagram, owners wrote: “To all our Bundits friends.

“After an incredible six years the time has come for us to say goodbye. Our final day of trading at ESF will be May 10.

“We want to say a huge thank you to every customer who has supported us over the years, and to all of the amazing team members we have had the pleasure of working with along the way.

“A special thank you to Edinburgh Street Food for being our home over the last three years. There is still time to grab your favourite bun before we go, so come and see us before May 10 for one last visit.

“Who knows what the future may hold… With love, the Bundits team.”

Edinburgh Street Food replied: “Bundits will be so missed. Lots of love to an incredible vendor and team! Gone but not forgotten, living on in the ESF legacy forever.”

Babyfaced Baker added: “Heartbroken to hear this! Best of luck with the next chapter bun besties.”

Locals were left gutted by the news. One said: “So sad to hear this!”

Another added: “Sad to read this, good luck going forward and to the future.”

A third posted: “Ah man! You guys made lockdown a little easier & I’m pretty sure I’ve dreamed of your cauliflower wings.”
