The cost of travelling on buses in the city will go up on Sunday, March 3. Here are all the details of what you will have to pay in future

Cardiff Bus passengers will face their first price rise for 14 months, with some fares set to go up on Sunday, March 3. Prices had remained the same since March, 2025.

From Sunday, the main Cardiff adult single fare will increase by 10p from £2.50 to £2.60, and weekly seven-day travel fares will rise from £18 to £19. The three-day ticket bundle will also see a £1 price rise.

The young persons freedom ticket, which entitles five-15s to 12 single journey tickets will go up by £2 from the current £12 to £14. The ten adult trips bundle will go up from £22 to £23.50.

Around the wider bus network, a standard adult single in Dinas Powys, Sully or Barry will cost £2.90, and a single to/from Dinas Powys or Sully to Barry will be £3.20. Never miss a Cardiff story by signing up to our daily newsletter here.

Full network singles, which apply to those travelling to Cardiff on services from Newport and the Vale of Glamorgan, will be £3.70. A day to go plus will cost £6.70 and a weekly ticket will come in at £26.

The app exclusive school run ticket which allows one adult and three children to travel together will, however, stay at £6.50. Family and group tickets will also remain the same price and there will be no changes to the south east Wales network rider prices.

Reduced fares for under-21s will also stay the same meaning anyone under-21 with a My Travel Pass, or those aged between five and 16, are entitled to £1 single bus fares and £3 all day travel across the network.

Ahead of the price hike, Cardiff Bus advised passengers that the cheapest way to travel was through the app which offered cheaper single fares and flexible ticket bundles.

On the app, an adult single bus fare is 25p cheaper at £2.35 and the monthly to go ticket guarantees unlimited travel around Cardiff and Penarth for £2.30 a day.
