However, next week’s weather could be promising.
Edinburgh locals are set to see thunderstorms sweep across the city on Thursday afternoon as the sunshine earlier in the week fades to a distant memory.
Although temperatures will mostly remain a steady 10C, thundery showers are expected at around 3pm, according to the BBC’s forecast. They are expected to continue periodically into the evening.
Rain can also be expected for most of the day, with a gentle breeze.
Despite more wet conditions predicted for the weekend, the mercury is set to rise into the beginning of next week and continue to increase.
In a week’s time, temperatures could reach up to 19C on Thursday, May 21.
In the meantime however, the BBC’s latest forecast for Edinburgh and Fife reads: “This afternoon will be breezy with areas of thick cloud, brief sunny spells and scattered showers, some of these heavy. The far north-east and south-west may escape a little drier.
“Tonight will see some showers lingering in places but most areas will turn dry with clear spells. Northern areas may hold onto patchy cloud and showers throughout. Windy in the north and east.
“Tomorrow will become drier with variable cloud and sunny spells, these lengthier in the west. However, a few light showers will persist in the east and far north, where it will be rather windy.”
